Abstract:
Autism spectrum disorders, characterized by communication impairment, abnormal social interactions, abnormal sensory stimuli responses, and repetitive and stereotyped behaviors, are uncurable, yet they can be altered through family involvement. Music therapy also has been seen as an effective method in treating autistic children. Pre-interview session and post-intervention focus group sessions are examined to explore how music therapy and family involvement affected children with this disorder. The results focus on parents’ perceptions of their childrens’ experiences, changes, and parent/child relationships. Sibling participation in the studies also is explained.
