Abstract:
Children with developmental disorders such as the Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) tend to have difficulty with transitional periods and with multi-step tasks. By taking into account these challenges the child with ASD has, teaching them social stories set to music can assist them in gaining greater ease when navigating these situations. This proposed program will take into account the specific needs of the ASD child and then create social stories set to popular musical melodies. The lyrics will be instructional in nature and taught to the child to sing when faced with situations which prove challenging and thus helping him or her transition into and out of the situations more fluidly.
